Frequently asked questions.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions last 50 minutes, starting on the hour.
How often will we meet?
I work with clients on a weekly basis, this enables us to keep momentum. However, I am open to working fortnightly, as I understand this can make access to therapy easier.
Where will we meet?
I have in-person rooms in Brixton, close to the tube station, and Herne Hill, a short walk from the train station. I also take clients online via Zoom.
What happens after the free intro call?
If after the call we are both happy to work with each other I will send my in-person and online availability. From there, if you wish to, you can book in a first session.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
Your sessions are confidential and private. Confidentiality will only be broken if I believe you or someone else is in danger of being harmed because of what you are telling me, or I am required to by law. Before breaking confidentiality I will endeavour to discuss the process with you first before speaking to anyone else.
I also discuss my caseload with a supervisor who are under the same confidentiality agreement, which is standard ethical practice for all registered psychotherapists.
What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists uses both terms interchangeably. But generally speaking counselling works through current issues, whereas psychotherapy looks deeper into the past. My way of working uses both approaches, depending on the client’s needs.
